We loved everything about it... in this order The staff: Kind, helpful & true customer oriented. Our gratitude to all of them Specially Mr. Nuno in the front desk, Mr. José in the restaurant, the kind ladies in the room service and last but not least the Mrs. Inés the owner who did everything to make the best of our stay. The Restaurant The menu, the cuisine & the service. The Room. We were upgraded to a suite with a beautiful view over the city and one of the main attractions "Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios" The location: Nearby everything! very central. A side note: The swiming pool is not big nor deep. For us it didn't matter because we were not looking for it and was perfect for our 6yrs old.

Great work of renovation so that the hotel keeps authentic character while gaining comfort. The hotel personnel is very sweet and helpful. The breakfast is absolutely great with home made, local products and fresh fruits!

The staff is amazing! Very good restaurant and wonderful service. Rooms are surprisingly spacious. Castelbel toiletries— a local Portuguese brand. Front desk organized a day trip for us, which was fabulous. The views from this hotel are breathtaking. Breakfast is delicious, lots of local selections and fresh fruit. Perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs. The bar is fantastic, we ate every evening meal on site three days in a row. It was that good, and we are generally picky. We are already talking about coming back again. Linda and Vanessa were two of our favorites.

Octant Douro located in Vista Alegre, Castelo de Paiva. Offering a stunning infinity pool the hotel overlooks the Douro River blending itself with the surrounding nature. Excellent, very generous breakfast, mix of local, continental and health focused cuisine . Michelin level restaurant did not disappoint and was quite frankly a great value. Regular bar also a great option. Wine selection excellent. Location very private, guarantees total disconnect from the world , if you want that. Great hiking trails. Excellent spa.

Such a lovely hotel. At first sight the outside of the hotel is quite ugly but as soon as you go inside it is stunning. We got an upgrade on our room which was fantastic. The swimming pool is the best pool we have ever visited. It is climatised so depending on the heat outside the pool becomes warmer or cooler. I can’t recommend it enough. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Such a shame we were only there for one night.

Situated in Peso da Régua, 6.1 km from Douro Museum, CASA QTA. STA. CRUZ-RÉGUA features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. Location was hard to find using Google maps. Probably our fault but the roads are very steep and windy and we must have driven straight past the property. We also ended up at Rua de Outeiro in Canelas on our first attempt. The property was extremely peaceful. Great views. Nice lap pool although it wasn't good enough weather during our stay to use it. Delicious breakfast and charming manager. It felt like home from home. Nice communal lounge area.
