Through out our stay he gladly provided hidtory, local information and trip suggestions. The room was spacious, sparlingly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was superb. Seldom have a had croissants so fresh that I needed to let them cool. I recommend without reservation.

The remote location, right in the heart of Serra da Estrela is amazing. The design of the hotel is cosy and warm. The 2 common rooms with the fireplaces allow you to relax and enjoy the moment. The limited number of rooms and architecture of the space allows the guests to feel a sense of privacy at every moment of their stay. Highly recommended the spa treatments. Remote location + massage = happiness Don't forget to try the indoor pool. Nor the shorter or longer nature trails. The views are breathtaking!

The hospitality was warm and generous and the generous breakfast with the beautiful dishes was a celebration.

This hotel is one which has been recently built or renovated next door to a restaurant and the tourist information centre on the way into the centre on a split level site. Our room was located downstairs from the main entrance and was located away from the main road with a view of the valley. There was free parking adjacent to the property. Breakfast was a good continental buffet which included a number of local cheeses, server three floors down in a room with a view of the lower valley. There was a selection of restaurants at various price points within a short distance of the hotel in addition to the more up market one next door (we tried The central for cheaper local food). The tourist information centre next door is worth a visit to get free walking route maps (using the European coloured flash way markers) in various languages distributed by a very helpful gentleman. There are a couple of supermarkets and bakery for picnic food.

Situated in Manteigas, 16 km from Parque Natural Serra da Estrela, Vila Gale Serra da Estrela features accommodation with a shared lounge, private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Wonderful location right in the glacial valley. Breakfast buffet outstanding
