Situated in Nikko, 1 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Shinkyo Inn features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a bar. A very nice B&B near the main cultural heritage sights of Nikko. We could even see the Shinkyo Bridge from our room! Mark and his wife are very nice, helpful, and personable. Since we got to Nikko late in the day, they made us a delicious dinner, taking note of our dietary concerns. And breakfast the next day was also excellent. While we found that the lighting in our room could have been somewhat stronger to allow us to read in bed, the bathroom was enormous and included both a shower and a most tempting tub. I could think of no better place to stay! It is truly idyllic.

Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable! The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for. The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely. Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

Nikko Station Hotel Ⅱ is located a 3-minute walk from Tobu Nikko Station. Nikko Tosho-gu is a 10-minute drive away. Free WiFi is available in all rooms. I liked the room's design, corridors, and lobby ( I admit that is mainly why I booked this place over all other options). We were lucky to get a space on one of the top floors, and an exceptional view of the city and mountains was there, too. A big supermarket is located close by, approximately the same distance (but in a different direction) as the station. The staff at the reception allowed other people to watch a sports match on the TV in the lobby, where vast and comfortable couches are located. That was nice of them. In the hall was also a free coffee and tea stand, which is always nice to have, even if you have a kettle in the room. Outside the building was a locker room, which saved trouble finding a free locker at the station.
