The breakfast was amazing and the spa area was also nice. The staff was exceptional. In all, I’m surprised this hotel is not 4 stars since I’ve been in way worse 4-star hotels in Europe and I would say this was still better than the 4-star hotels I got to know in Japan. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to check the nearby Bikan district or even if you planned to go to Okayama city center.

Set 300 metres from Nishigawa Canal Park, Hotel Abest Grande Okayama offers 3-star accommodation in Okayama and features a fitness centre, a shared lounge and a bar. Super clean, everything was more than as promised. Nice bed, got a TV (rare for “capsule rooms”) and the bathrooms are close. The staff are kind, gracious and extremely polite. To the extent where I was uncomfortable (in a GOOD way?) because I wasn’t used to people doing that much (e.g. pressing the lift button for me). Being able to borrow manga to read was a lovely surprise, but note that it’s all in Japanese.
