Sam's Bungalows has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Bukit Lawang. The accommodation features room service, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. Sam is an attentive and friendly owner and his staff are excellent! Pipie his main guy was always there to chat and help plus he played Rummikub with us at night! The restaurant was very good with a great selection of food with amazing value! They booked out car from Medan and gave a motorbike ride to the hotel which added to our experience! We also booked a jungle trek with Andre and Rama as our guides… they were patient and fun to hang with and the provided a wonderful lunch plus we saw six Orangutans with a mom and baby within 5ft! A definite recommend to our friends !

The chalet ıs located at an end, nestled besıde the raınforest. The monkıes joıned us for breakfast and you can hearthem jumıng on the roof from early mornıng. Our hostess, Tıa, was so hospıtable and frıendly. She had the most gorgeous lıttle kıttens who were so playful. Tıa organısed our guıde to come down and speak to us the nıght before our 1 day trek, so we had lots of ınfo ahead of tıme. ı absolutely recommend stayıng here. You can open the porch double doors and vıew the rıver from the 4 poster bed. There ıs also a hammock on the porch to relax on.

The whole family are so friendly & kind, they helped us with transfers & took us on an excellent trek to see the Orangutan’s, we were very lucky and saw 5 in total. What makes this accommodation stand out is the super friendly family who run it; brothers andri & ambri who speak exceptional english, especially Andri. I’m not sure what their parents were called but they too were super friendly & kind. The family also took in a stray cat we brought with us from Medan. (Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for this) Our stay here was the highlight of a 6 week trip in Indonesia. Thank you so much and we hope to return again in the future x
