Neijiang is a nice Chinese city. Easy to get around by car/taxi and it has everything one needs, without having the crazyness of most larger Chinese cities. The people are very friendly and the sichuanese dishes are very tasty. My personal recomendation is to go eat some sichuan style beef noodles from a local noodle shop. They are fantastically full of flavour!
Leshan Giant Buddha, giant panda research and breeding base, Sichuan opera in the park every evening, were all fantastic and I would definitely recommend. People park is also fun with teahouses and locals singing/dancing
Chengdu is very easy to get around with and extremely cheap metro system. You can see the pandas easily by getting off at chengdu avenue and jumping on the free shuttle bus. Buy your entrance ticket on the bus at avoid queueing at the park. Visit century global, biggest shopping mall in Asia with its indoor beach!!! Sichuan opera in culture park is a fantast cultural experience and extremely funny, slapstick comedy.
Pandas! Haha, see the pandas whilst in Chengdu of course and lots of Chinese cultural places to go see like DuFu's cottage and Zhuge Liang's memorial in the Wuhou Temple but if you do want to see anything further out in Sichuan or the west like Tibetan towns plan for a lot more time as other places in Chengdu are not that near and it's a great province. I also loved the teahouse culture and it's easy to take the buses (grab a 1¥ tourist map for all the public transport routes).
Apart from the Pandas we loved the People's Park. Jin Li street was fascinating. The city is huge and has so many different areas worth visiting. Bars, restaurants, back streets all there. Taxis were easy to use and cheap. Some language problems but get destination in Chinese and show the driver, no problem. Trains easy to use, didn't bother with buses. Most nights ate at local Chinese restaurants, great fun trying the Sichuan food, better than anywhere else in China, if you like spicy. Must visit the Global centre, just see something huge.
Chengdu, is a sub-provincial city which has served as capital of China's Sichuan province. It is one of the three most populous cities in Western Chin. As of 2014, the administrative area houses 14,427,500 inhabitants, with an urban population of 10,152,632. 10,484,996 inhabitants.Chengdu is unique as a major Chinese settlement that has maintained its name (nearly) unchanged throughout the imperial, republican, and communist eras. It was the capital of Liu Bei's Shu during the Three Kingdoms Era, as well as several others. It is now one of the most important economic, financial, commercial, cultural, transportation, and communication centers in Western China
A must see in Chengdu or in China, is the giant panda. Chengdu is a city famous for giant panda, where u could touch them or try to feed them! Chengdu is also famous for hot pot. Qintai Road is very unique and it's beautiful at night. If u have a lot of time, why not try the Sichuan Mahjong? The best way to explore Chengdu 's culture is to go to a teahouse and chat with the old.
Best place to head to if you’re there for the Giant Pandas and indulging in Chengdu’s Dan Dan Noodles and anything spicy! Loved the arts and crafts at the Wide and Narrow Alley. Don’t forget to buy Sichuan peppercorns, silver bangle, personalised seal of your name handcrafted on stone replicas. Jinli Street and People’s Park are must go to places, too plus the Wenshu Monastery. Take the Line 1 metro to Jincheng Plaza if you want to shop under one BIG roof! There’s a water park in the giant mall !!!
Chengdu is a nice city, not so crowdy as other Chinese cities. The city center is nice and clean. The research Panda park is nice too: animals have big spaces to stay and you can see them in their natural environment. I went to the Sichuan opera in 蜀风雅韵, inside the cultural park: I suggest to try even if you do not speak Chinese you will have fun and you can see a part of the traditional Chinese culture. I will certainly go back to chengdu to visit what I missed this time.
The coolest city in China, relax with a cup of tea in a garden and listen to the chat of those around you, before heading into an arty bar and enjoying some local music and poetry. The food is uniquely delicious and so so special. The subway system is cheap and works perfectly, easy to navigate. Get yourself a map in English and Chinese, though, as the map on the ticket purchasing machine only has chinese characters. Hotpot is a must. We went to Da Miao (大妙)in Xiangzi Alley. The food was second to none and there’s a fantastic Sichuan opera performance to watch while you eat. Nearby is Nu Art, a cafe and bar with cheap booze and a nice calm atmosphere playing cool original minimal house music. The pandas are an obvious choice for a daytime activity: get there early (arrive at 8am) to avoid the crowds which have to be seen to be believed!
Jinniu, Chengdu
I spent a very enjoyable week at Lazybones hostel - the staff really made my stay unique, with constant availability and quality advice. Thanks especially to Michael for helping with just about everything, as well as for pointing me in the direction of some remarkably good teahouses. The free events, like the Hotpot and Sichuan Opera, will always be a good memory and made for great mingling. The espresso they serve at the ground floor bar is also quite good!
Great location on a very nice street, next to a park, Sichuan Opera House is one minute walk away! The hotel itself is clean, modern and stylish, the breakfasts are good, there were very tasty flower cakes in the room as a compliment when I checked in. I would like to highlight the work of one member of staff with excellent English, she magically appeared every time when needed and helped with everything, thank you!
Frank, Joey & the rest of the hotel staff treated us extremely well. They advised us on day trips, helped us organize the same trips & if there was any issue they were always there to support us. The location is quite central & right next to the Sichuan Opera & tons of good restaurants. The rooms were really nice and the whole experience left me with very good vibes!
Wuhou, Chengdu
The hostel was very nice. It’s very close to Jinli and Wuhouci. It was an area popular among Tibetans, therefore making it very rich culturally. Hotel staff were super friendly , even taking us personally to good Sichuan restaurants and help us ordering good dishes. If you are travelling 5-6 people , the room is a great choice. The price was really good value for money.
Wuhou, Chengdu
Near Jin Li street and lots of restaurants. The reception can assist with buying Sichuan Opera and Panda Base tickets. There is a laundry available. Staff are friendly though English is very limited. They were helpful in getting us taxis. We communicated through a translation app.
Excellent staff and service, great location and good value for money
Careful design - a wonderful integration of Chinese and modern. The staff was sensitive, welcoming. A special recognition to Marvin, Grace, Mandy and Sarah for their consummate professionalism.
