FAQs about hotels in Faro

Colourful, Historic, and Sunny

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.

Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.

The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.

Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals).

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals). The graffiti is artwork in most cases, I was informed it's used to mark abandoned/derelict buildings. Can be a little disorientating in the old town, but it is beautiful. Traffic can be a little busy around rush hour, if you are not used to city driving and some of the roads can be a bit uneven around the old town, so I'd advise don't drive through Old Town in a sports car.

Praia de faro is nice of you looking for a quiet break it has few restaurants for a nice meal.and a few drinks. Beach is beautiful so if you want a slow pace holiday near the airport just to unwind its for you. If you prefer bars and shops there aren't any really.

Faro was nice, good food / drink and is best suited as a base if you are staying for more than four days. It’s got a charming old town but it is a small place and you can see most things in a day or two. It has a nice feel about it - much better than Albufeira for example as it’s not so. commercialised or rowdy. If you’re looking for stag / hen dos this probably isn’t the place for you.

Faro is a lovely place for a few days. We walked most of the town. The weather was a little windy and cool but we still went out on a sunset cruise which I highly recommend. Faro beach was wonderful too. Lots of different cuisines. A great spot!

We love travelling and generally take a couple of breaks during the year. So we hope to visit you again early next year. Could you please quote us for a weeks stay for two of us for next January or February. We generally go cruising later on in the year and we like taking 3 or 4 day breaks on our west coast in Ireland. Your hotel is a gem, a boutique hotel which we were lucky to visit. We hope to see you again early next year.

Food. Definitely the food. Delicious and at a good price.

Food. Definitely the food. Delicious and at a good price. The city is also nice, great for evening or morning walks. And the Natural Park is great to see. I wouldn't bother with the Castle restaurant, the view is nice, staff is nice, but prices are a bit high and you can't pay by card. Taberna Modesto just next to it was sublime. You don't get the sunset, but the atmosphere is very nice and food is delicious and not as expensive. Plenty of places for morning coffee and breakfast, if you're into that. The Forum Algarve is another good place to visit. Great for shopping and eating and a very nice place overall to spend your day,

Stayed here for 1 night upon arrival to Portugal at Faro airport. More of an Airbnb style accommodation, self check in, no staff. Our room was pleasantly large and updated. Bed (equivalent to a queen size) was very comfortable. Modern bathroom, smart TV, strong AC and very clean. The street got extremely lively at night with bars and restaurants but we could not notice in our room. Parked our rental car on the street with no problems. Perfect for what we needed

Great little hotel in Faro. Really close to the train station, and the central old town. The staff was very helpful. Gave a great recommendation for lunch just up the street from the hotel - one of the better meals we had in Portugal. We had a room off the back with a little balcony, very quiet, great view of the storks and their nests on the neighboring church. The breakfast was also very good!

Convenient location close to airport. We stayed for one night, the next day we continued our trip through Portugal. If you want to sleep in, then when booking, ask for rooms whose windows do not overlook the courtyard. If on the contrary with noisy companies, then you just here. We were lucky, we slept well and rested.

Faro is a good place to go as a jump off for other areas in Portugal, the Lemon Tree Stay is in a great location and is within walking distance to everything your need. The breakfast was a good solid start in the morning, by the 4th day of our stay, it would have been nice not to have the same food. We stayed 6 days....

Great views and the room was above my expectations. We stayed at the hotel just one night before any early morning flight but if we had wanted to spend more time in Faro, this would have been our first choice. Very spacious, great amenities, and could see it as a great long term stay option.

The breakfast was superb - best I've had in a hotel in Portugal. Rooms are amazing and feel more homely than most hotels. I love the little yellow sofa in the room (standard plus). The Habito restaurant was absolutely superb. It's fabulous to sit by the pool for lunch.
