The positives were:
1. The staff at the hotel were exceptional. The receptionist was incredibly kind and always greeted us with a warm smile. The cleaning crew did an excellent job maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms.
2. The indoor pool was a great feature, and the fact that it was warm made swimming even more enjoyable. Having a hot shower nearby after swimming was a nice touch. Swimming at night was a wonderful way to relax and relieve stress.
3. The balcony provided a lovely view, adding to the overall ambiance of the stay.

We got a room with mountain view, which was breathtaking, if we would have gotten a room on the opposite side I wouldn’t have been so thrilled.
View is amazing, you have access to the swimming pool which is also nice, you can hear the river from the balcony or restaurant terrace, breakfast is stunning, never seen so many options of food in a long while.
People working at the property are all super friendly and helpful.

Being November, it was very warm inside, so the heating and hot water were above expectations. We had breakfast included in the price and it was a la carte but more than ok for a fresh start of the day. The hosts are welcoming. The room is big, however the house needs some renovations as well as the entire area. It's pretty far from the centre, more towards the entrance of the resort.
Boasting mountain views, Pensiunea Vila Geany SRL offers accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 35 km from Iron Gate I.

My partner and I spent a few wonderful days at Vila Geany and we absolutely loved it. The room was big, very clean, the beds were really comfy and the tarrase/ balcony had an amazing view of the mountains and the river. The neighbourhood was quite, safe and close to the old town, hiking trails and any other place one would like to visit while in Herculane. Doamna Lili was a great host, very attentive, hospitable and gave us some great advice on where to eat, bathe and trails nearby. We highly recommend this guest house and its lovely owners. Thank you again for everything!

The town is a strange mix of old and new, and the old is definitely the part worth seeing. One question we needed to answer was: how to try out the thermal waters without paying? The answer is to go to the Hotel Roman in the early morning, and bathe for free in the Cerna river just upstream from it - in the thermal springs and pools there. It's important to go early - in the tourist season at least - because it can get very crowded later, and there are not many places on the rocks to sit or dry your towel. Because it's free, there are no facilities, and no-one seems to clear up the litter. But all of that is made up for by the amazing, healing waters. We felt wonderful for 24 hours!

The place has a ton of potential but it is truly upsetting how in ruins it is, I was expecting at least Baile Tusnad level or Sovata but no, the place was a dump, it was full of stray dogs, no spring baths were functional, but the building were there but none of them renovated or even in the process of it. Also parking was expensive 1.25 EUR an hour? Are you mad? For this dump? I hope to revisit the place when the get themselves together, and renovate the place cause currently it is a dump and there is nothing worth visiting there, only if you wish to appreciate your home town more, but the city as it is, it was a dump.

As far as I'm concerned, there was nothing we can do apart from the indoor pool. No restaurants were opened through the city to have a decent meal after a long drive to get there. The hotel's restaurant served only buffet meals 3 times a day for an extra charge. Though we were not vaccinated, they've made an exception and checked us in (...they would have done anything in order not to refund for your booking)

I loved the hill walking around the town.
I loved the hill walking around the town. I also loved the history of the town but felt a little sad that so much of the grandeur had been left to decay. I know there are several places being 'spruced up' but generally it had a feeling of having seen its better days. I think, with some upkeep, tourists would flock here with the town's spas, history and hills.

Very good location, close to old centre, with wonderful view to Cerna river, both from the balcony or common terrace.
Quiet street, with the upper building still in construction, but sparkling clean.
The landlords are very friendly and reccomended a new eating place nearby, Flora, which we would probably not be tempted at first glance to try, but has in fact some of the best courses of meal from the entire Herculane terraces :)
Also Dimitrios restaurant is less than a 2 minutes walk. Great views and good food.
We had a great stay at the Rio. The host was very welcoming and friendly, and the apartment is newly furbished, clean and tidy. There is a coffee maker on the balcony you can use. What really sells this place is the garden which extends to the Cerna river - an unbelievably cool place to spend a summer afternoon. Note however that it is not near to the center of Baile Herculane and that there are not many facilities or attractions nearby, it is a peaceful place you can use as a base to explore the surroundings.
This house (No 17,which IS NOT specified in the address on Booking) has a nice garden with flowers, vine and swings. There are tables outside under a vine canopy for having meals. There are also two well equipped kitchens where you can prepare your meals. From the garden you have a beautiful view of the mountains behind the house. Everything is nice in the house and the host is very helpful, nice and friendly. There are thermal pools, shops, big hotels and restaurants 10minutes walk from Bella House.

Wonderful place to stay in Baile Herculane! Patricia is a wonderful host, very accommodating, we were even able to converse in French.....genial! Merci beaucoup pour les crepes!
Comfortable and relaxing place after a long day of hiking plus there's an enormous and lush garden in the back. Plus it's quiet, clean and there's use of a well equipped kitchen.
Strong recommendation!
Great and clean accomodation. Host is friendly and recommend a good place to eat in Băile Herculane. Location is 5 minutes to the Town Center by car or 20 minutes by foot. You can park your car in front of the property on the sidewalk
The location is next to road what is great if you are on tight schedule. Parking place is inside of fence by the hotel. They have small vineyard, so owner gave us a little treat with his grapes. Lady of the house is also a sweet lady.
I really liked the hotel staff. The receptionist was very friendly, helpful and polite. Also the room was very clean and well equipped. The breakfast was above expectations for a 2-star hotel.
Nice, very clean room, fluffy towels for the spa and good toiletries. The landlady was super nice. She kept the jacuzzi opened for us one extra hour and gave us some wine on the house.
The hotel is amazingly decorated, very elegant and up to highest standards.
The breakfast is rich and very good.
Staff very friendly and professional.
Location very good as well.
This excellent hotel was almost empty so we were upgraded to a large and spacious swit. the pool and the sauna was for our sole use. breakfast was fine. great hotel. lllll
