Imaginário D'El Rei - Guest House, hotel in Mesão Frio

Located in Mesão Frio, a 35-minute drive from Lamego, Imaginário d´El Rei features a seasonal outdoor pool and sun terrace.

This hotel was a top highlight of our trip to Portugal. The pictures don't do this view justice; it is fantastic. Our host was amazing and treated us like family. The room had an exceptional view, and the hot tub, pool, and lounge area were amazing. I was so sad to leave! Also, originally, I thought that this was not in as central of a location in the Douro Valley. After having visited, I think that the location is one of the best in the valley and possibly the best view in the Douro Valley.

Quinta de S.Bernardo - Winery & Farmhouse, hotel in Mesão Frio

Quinta de S.Bernardo - Winery & Farmhouse is offering accommodation in Mesão Frio. Among the various facilities are a garden, a terrace, as well as a shared lounge.

This place is absolutely superb! From the initial contact prior to our visit, to the final farewell there is a commitment to excellence and attention to detail in everything. The location is charming - nestled in the vineyards and a short walk down to the river. There's a lovely range of amenities to use. The staff are totally wonderful - constantly attentive to ensure everything is perfect and to help with anything. The food and wines are superb. Highly recommend the wine tasting with Pedro - a master of his craft. The Quinta is beautiful, lovely design , gorgeous rooms and views, and relatively small so never feels overcrowded or over busy at all. We were expecting a lovely place but this surpassed our high expectations and then some. Its pretty close to perfection! Cannot recommend highly enough.

The village of Mesao Frio was a long steep walk from our accommodation Imaginario d'El-Rei but was well worth it. We ate in the local family restaurant Atasca Do Zequinha which was run by a brother and sister. It was right at the top the hill and was almost like going into their own home. The food was excellent along with the local wines and you were made to feel part of the family. We enjoyed it so much that we returned again for our second night.

Mesao Frio is a small, quaint town in the Douro hills at the western end of Portuguese wine country. A small number of charming restaurants, nice people and vineyards abound. Great base for exploring the Upper Douro and Portugal's fantastic wine country.

Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number.

Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number. When I entered, I thought I was going into someone's living room. Didn't look like an inn/B&B. The owner was smoking and the entire place smelled awful. His daughter was ironing. Very odd. Had to walk up flight of stairs with luggage. Breakfast was minimal, we had to wait for bread delivery. Bathroom was tiny and shower was too. We stayed in 10 different places this trip and this was the most expensive and the worst of all of them. Very disappointed. We spent over 2 hours trying to find this place. A elderly woman selling cherries by the roadside was finally able to get us there. It was Sunday and by the time we found place, no place was open for dinner. Grade of F.

Every room has a fantastic view of the Douro River! The casa was a great base for us to explore the Douro region from. It is also a short walk from Mesão Frio, which has good options for cafes and dinner. Our host couldn’t have been nicer and went the extra mile to be sure we were comfortable, including having his English-speaking son on hand to make check-in easy. The daily breakfast was delicious!

The vineyard was located high on the hill near the village of Mesão Frio, with an open vista of the Douro Valley. The environment is tranquil and natural, surrounded by plantations and with a swimming pool to take dips in the hot summer weather. The owners/staff were fantastic, especially Senhor Carlos who was friendly, humble, and happy to help with anything.
