Sun, Sand and The Strip!
One of the best Algarve resorts, Albufeira has wonderful beaches, turquoise waters and the dramatic, rocky coastline that makes this part of Portugal so special.
Naturally, life here is all about sun, sand and sea. The most popular Albufeira beach is Fisherman’s Beach and you can still see locals bringing in the fishing boats every morning - if you’re up early enough, that is. Tunnel Beach is accessed through an opening in the cliff, and both offer a variety of watersports.
Further up the coast is Albufeira Marina, from where sightseeing boat trips depart, while east of the town is the 9-hole Balaia golf course. On the way here, you pass Arias de Sao João, home to The Strip where the best bars and clubs are found, many staying open until the early hours.
The Old Town of Albufeira is more peaceful, and its cobbled streets house Moorish buildings and some great restaurants serving fresh fish. If you fancy a day trip from Albufeira, the 12th-century remains of Moorish Almoáda Castle in Paderne can be visited for free.
The town is around 45 minutes’ drive from Faro Airport and there is a fantastic range of beach resorts, small B&Bs and Albufeira apartments on Booking.com.

I didn’t even have a working electrical plug in the bathroom, there’s no full length mirror in the room and the hallway was not vacuumed on a regular basis. Didnt like the area at all, its only fit for groups of lads and maybe girls, but if I was a woman I wouldnt feel safe there. The streets are horrendous with bricks and loose rubble evrywhere, it looks completly run down, nothing attractive about it at all.

Albufeira is a lovely beach town with a lot of kid friendly activities and nice options for the grown ups like cliff hiking too. The beaches are excellent. There are a lot of restaurants in town and various cuisines. Multiple beach resorts make it a perfect location for family vacations. Its very easy to reach from Faro airport or train station. In town its easy to move around via Uber etc, but best to have a rental car, there is parking easily available everywhere. Albufeira is very hilly so you should factor in taxi's etc to get around if you have any mobility issues, particulary heading west from the centre. We went in the first week in May and it was, we thought very busy and certainly very noisy in the centre from the. It seems to be a magnet for Stag and Hen parties and/or large groups of men / women of all ages who like to party. We used our Albufeira as a base and explored other local Towns on foot and using Taxi's. A good party place if that floats your boat if you are loking for quiet evenings for food and drink then maybe choose elsewhere- there are lots of places on the Algarve that we have stayed in/visited.

Loved it all, great holiday all round for families/stags/hens/couples/all ages. Boat trip along Algarve into caves with private beach BBQ amazing and all day event. Staff everywhere really friendly and courteous. Food great, enough choice for all palettes.

The large pools looked inviting, but we did not use them since we were limited on time. The dunes and beach were lovely, and we enjoyed sunset there. The hotel was quiet and relaxing during our stay, likely due to the cooler weather and fewer guests. Dinner at the restaurant was better than other places we've dined during our visit to Portugal. We wished that we had stayed more than one night.
