Location wise, very central and close to all points of interest in Himeji - practically next to the train station. My room had a view to the station so it was nice to watch the Shinkansen trains pass by
The clerks were mostly friendly and welcoming
Very clean

Great location, close to Himeji Station and easy walking distance to Himeji Castle. We were only there for one day/night, so that was important. Room was bigger than hotel rooms we stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto so that was also nice and the bathroom was very modern and large
Right next to JR Himeji Train Station, Hotel Nikko Himeji features a fitness center with indoor pool, massage services and a 15th-floor bar.

The hotel is located literally next to the train station, there is an easy access to buses. You can reach the castle and the museums on a lovely, straightforward walk. The room was small (especially the bathroom), but more spacious than rooms in other Japanese hotels. Included all the usual appliances. The tv set had some English language channels (yay!). The room was pretty dated, would merit some refurbishment. The staff was lovely and helpful, spoke limited English. Breakfast was fabulous (big variety, both Japanese and Western options), but the huge dining space was still too small for all the guests (a lot of organized groups), so if you were coming between 7 and 8 am - you needed to wait for a table. Loved the cafe downstairs, on the ground floor.
APA Hotel Himeji-eki-kita is conveniently located just a 6-minute walk from JR Himeji Train Station. It has a restaurant, massage services and well-equipped rooms.

We got lucky and got upgraded to a twin room instead of a double, which I'm grateful for. The rooms are more spacious than your usual APA, which is definitely a plus.

Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit.
Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit. This is my 3rd or 4th visit. In cherry blossom season, it is nothing short of spectacular. In winter, it's not so green, but the gardens are still worth seeing and wandering through. The castle itself is worth every cent of the entry fee and one could easily spend 2 or more hours exploring all the nooks and crannies before even reaching the 6 floor castle. Climbing to the top is must, but remember you will need to take off your shoes (and the stairs are more like wide rung ladders, so hold onto the rails!
The eateries are also worthwhile visiting, with plenty of choice in the area between the station and the castle. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime - it was huge and totally empty apart from us, and the food was fabulous - we chose banh mi which was just as good as in its' home country.

Loved arriving on the train and as we exited the station in the evening all the Christmas lights on the wide Avenue running straight from station to the lit up Himeji Castle in the distance..just stunning. The castle is amazing and a beautiful garden alongside it. Lovely to stroll around.

I have been here so many times.
I have been here so many times. The castle, Himeji Central Park, the aquarium.... there are so many wonderful places to visit, and at the same time, it is full of terrific shops and restaurants. I don't think there is anybody who would NOT have a good time in this pleasant little city.

The castle exceeded our expectations.
The castle exceeded our expectations. You can access the entire castle and grounds and it is more beautiful than any photo I'd seen of it. Also, the multitude of alleyways and shops is lovely, safe and fun

It is a lovely, but bustling little city.
It is a lovely, but bustling little city. The castle is within sight of just about every hotel. It is worth a day's visit. However, I would avoid it in August; it must be so hot inside, as most places probably were during the 1400s. HImeji Central Park is definitely worth a visit. There is convenient bus service, and the park is often open late on weekends. There is an aquarium, too. The city itself is loaded with old-fashioned shopping streets, closed to cars, and covered, a bonus in case you have forgotten an umbrella. It is indeed a shopping mecca. You will find everything imaginable, and near the castle, loads of old shops PLUS an open-air market that is loads of fun to browse. I am not sure whether it is open daily, so check the days/hours. Finally, there is an open, public space/park right in front of the station that makes hanging around the station area good fun. Several ice cream shops, crepe shops, loads of bread shops. The bread shop in the Hotel Nikko is particularly good, and it is a 15-second walk from the station.
The location is truly wonderful. It is literally across the street from the Himeji Station. Easy access if you arrive by JR/Shinkansen.
Also not far from the Himeji Castle and many shopping malls and restaurants.
My room had a nice view into the train station - if you like train watching, this is a wonderful location.
Paid sauna, pool, and Japanese bathhouse - I didn't go but went to see it. If I stayed for more than one night, I would actually go use them. Looked pretty nice.
It's located a few steps away from the castle and at walking distance from the train stations, close to restaurants and shops. The lady host was super nice and friendly, she will explain where's everything and how it works. The facilities are modern, clean and with a nice style; I really liked the decoration. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean, and the common area comfy. I definitely recommend it.
I really loved staying at this hotel. The onsen was such a nice way to relax after a long day of exploring Himeji. The room is consistent in size with most hotels in Japan and had a good layout. I especially loved the free ramen and ice cream in the evenings. Incredible value. Great location (very close walk to Himeji shinkansen station)
Great location close to the station and a short walk from the castle. very friendly staff. parking for several cars (uses car lift so size limits apply). Great Japanese breakfast choice. Free ramen from 21.30-2300 every evening. roof spa (didn’t see or use though as stated only one night). Rooms a little dated but perfectly fine.
Everything. Clean, modern, had all the facilities you could ask for, such as a nice lounge area with free coffee and matcha, tv by the bed, free pajamas, and excellent wifi. Situated right by the main metro station and in the middle of everything. Short walk from Himeji castle.
This hotel has an excellent location near the Jr h i m e j i train station, and on the north side, which is important, because the castle is to the north. It is very easy to get to the castle from the hotel by bus or even by walking. The breakfast was very good
Hotel is clean and comfortable and near the Himeji train station. Himeji Castle is a relatively short walk away. Breakfast was good with primarily Asian offerings. The price was extremely reasonable for the hotel’s location and amenities.
Location is fantastic, just a few steps to the station, shops and food options. Our room looked down on the train tracks, so very convenient if travelling with kids or bags. A short walk to the castle and parks. Staff were great.
The location was very good, walking distance to the castle and the station. The staff were lovely, as staff in all Japanese hotels seem to be, and very helpful. The included breakfast was plentiful and varied.
Close to Himejis main train station. Rooms are clean and beds are good. Himeji castle is in walking distance. One can have breakfast in the restaurant on the ground floor. Nothing special, but can recommend.
The Hotel is conveniently located right next to the Himeji Station within close proximity to the Himeji Castle. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Good location, close to Himeji castle and not too far walking from the train station. I also like the reception amenities and the rooftop with a nice view (in the distance) of the castle
Comfortable and clean room with all needs catered for. A little small, but that is usual in Japan. Friendly staff on the desk. Convenient for the station and the castle.
