We had a lovely view of Mt. Fuji from our window. Futons were comfortable and we had a nice amount of floor space. The onsen was divine, not too busy and open until late.

I liked everything. The hotel oozed old time charm. Think Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. The hotel is immaculate with care being taken to maintain the facilities. While things may initially appear a bit dated, actually everything is perfectly juxtaposed with original charm and modern touches.
We stayed in superior room with western bed and tatami area and lake view. Spectacular views of the lake and beautiful grounds. The room was very spacious with all the essentials provided. We had 2 twin beds and a large window length bench/desk. The bathroom was snug with a small but deep bathtub and great shower. Separate toilet.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle bus that runs from the station regularly and will even take you on request if needed.
The hotel is very family friendly with plenty of thoughtful touches from kids seats to kids books in the lounge.
The breakfast was on the top floor with superb views for guests and a wide range of Japanese and western options to get you started. A French chef also creates a masterpiece dining option for guests, at around $100AUD pp. for dinner.
Each day there are afternoon refreshments offered in the lounge area to have a snack and watch the beautiful lake.
The viewing tower had spectacular views of Mt Fuji and the lake and we were lucky enough to have a clear day for sightseeing at the end of May. Unreal is an understatement!

Me and my mom loved staying for this hotel. The location is amazing, right next to lake where we were able to take a walk around the area which is also super cute and peaceful. We also enjoyed our room view to the mountains, tho we stayed there during rainy day, so we were not able to see Mt. Fuji from our room which was really upsetting. But it is a great motivation to come back there on a sunny day. Also, the Onsen in the hotel was our highlight of staying in this hotel. We were able to enjoy it evening late at night, 1 am which was rewarding after day of traveling. There is also Onsen on the terrace which is extremely nice as I could also enjoy night view to lake and area around while taking a bath outside.

The room was spacious, the view was nice and the bed was comfortable. The hotel provided slippers and bathrobes; the little luxury items that made a difference.
We stayed a few days to look around Mt Fuji with a hired car, so I can’t comment on location in terms of public transport. There is a shopping mall nearby, it’s handy to buy a few things. There are also a few restaurants in walking distance. The coffee shop next to the carpark has great coffee.
Offering magnificent views of Mount Fuji and Lake Shoji in every room, Shoji Mount Hotel features 2 large public baths, which are open 24 hours. Kawaguchiko Station is a 35-minute drive away.

Everything was perfect. The room is super clean and in the traditional Japanese style which I loved. Very cozy and comfortable. I was lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji on a clear day and the view from the room was priceless.
The staff was very nice, friendly and professional.
I also liked that the area wasn’t touristy at all, I could enjoy the view at the lake without a crowd.
Highly recommend this hotel!

We had never been to Japan before and if you type into your computer "which is the most popular destination in Japan", it will tell you Mt Fuji, so we decided to go. So did 10 million other tourists!!!! It was a busy place especially around the bus/train station.
You have to visit the mountain, but watch the weather otherwise it could be a wasted trip as we found when we reached the 3,000 m mark on the bus with rain and thick cloud cover so no amazing views. Avoid the tourist shops as they are a "rip off" price wise, and once again expect lots and lots of tourists.
The place we stayed was the cheapest non dorm accommodation we could find in the area and it was good value for money with a great host, so would recommend staying there if you are on a tight budget. The room was small compared to European room sizes, but the private bathroom and toilet were great, although access to the room was difficult with large suitcases up a spiral staircase.
There is a shopping mall 10-15 minutes walk away with a selection of places to eat (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, burger joint) . The bus trip on the Red Line to the lake(s) area is a nice half day trip and cheap.
All in all, if you have never been before, GO, it's well worth it, and a direct bus service from/to both international airports.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession.
The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested.
On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through.
Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

Beautiful, serene and scenic place. Must spend at least 2 full days to explore the beauty of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. We stayed in a Japanese room with Mt Fuji view and managed to get a fantastic view of the majestic mountain. The check in was quite fast. We self-drove and there was ample of free parking spaces. The hotel even provided trolley to bring baggage up to the room! I quite like their public bath and I was able to see the snow fall into the outdoor bath area, which was so magical. The room was comfortable even though it looks rather simple. There are a few supermarkets nearby, and Fuji-Q is very nearby.
This hotel is gorgeous! And has stunning views right of Mt. Fuji - unfortunately we only stayed one night and wasn’t very visible in the morning however it cleared up during the day as we explored the town and I can only imagine the view you’d actually have if it was clear during your stay. It’s only a short walk from the station and a few near by restaurants. The rooms are quite big - biggest ones we’ve stayed in while travelling Japan. Staff are lovely and check in and out is very easy.
The place was very clean and felt like home. It was very quiet, i was able to get enough rest during my stay. There was free instant ramen and a bottle of water, heater and hot and cold water for bath. Mr. Aoki was very kind and gave me a ride to Kawaguchiko Station for free since I checked out early. I would highly recommend this property. Mt. Fuji is very visible from this hotel. Convenience Store is just a few blocks away. Thank you Mr. Aoki for your hospitality!
Right near the lake. We had a room with Western and Japanese room, with the fuji Mt view. We enjoyed our stay. The staff are very nice. If you have any ?, just ask. They speak good English and very helpful.
Shuttle bus pick-up at anytime you arrive. Just go to the information centre, with 300 yen in hand, they will make a call for you to notify the hotel. Thank you for the lady at the reception desk. You are wonderful.
The hotel staff are very welcoming and ready to respond very quickly to any problems.
The typical Japanese room had an incredible charm and everything was perfect in terms of facilities.
The location of the hotel was also very convenient, 2 minutes walk from Fujikawaguchiko station were you have a beautiful view of Fuji-san.
There are also shops right next door and good restaurants.
The best view of Mt Fuji directly at your face. Loved the onsen, breakfast was superb and value for money, highly recommended to pay for breakfast as the restaurant outside opens late. Location is great as there are restaurants within walking distance and a shopping mall nearby. Hotel shuttle to kawaguchiko station is every 30mins from 8am-11am and upon request from 3pm-8pm.
The breakfast was a spread! It comes with 6 side dishes, 1 miso soup, 1 main dish and rice. The banquet hall oversee the beautiful view of the lake.
Excellent location - easy access to many attractions around Fujikawaguchiko, ~10-15 mins drive away to most attractions. Free car parking is located directly opposite the hotel.
The space, staff and food was excellent!! I’ve been to many ryokans and hotels but this one ranks near the top. A little pricey in my opinion but in the end worth it. The Presidential two room was the most spacious place I’ve been to in Japan 🇯🇵 especially with only 3 people. I’ll definitely be back again and again!!
The location is great, 7 minutes walking to Fujikawaguchiko station and nearby restaurants/Lawson/family mart. The room is very clean with a separate toilet and bath/shower unit. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Our suitcases were kept free until 4:30pm after we checked out.
Excellent location near Oishi park. Very friendly, English-speaking, and helpful staff. The hotel is well designed. I stayed in a private room and everything was very good. They even served basic meals, which were very welcome in rural Japan where everything closes at 6pm.
The staff was amazing and very kind, the location was great and we saw Mt. Fuji from our window!
The room offered traditional Japanese lifestyle, such as kimono, tatami, green tea and Japanese sweets.
We got early check-in to the room, and the parking was near the hotel.
We stayed in a Japanese style room with no views for Fuji mountain. Although the facilities are very basic it is very authentic and clean. This hotel is great value for money! It was right near a bus station, restaurants and few minutes walk to the train station.
Great hotel. A huge room, with a Japanese sitting area in front of the lake view. A calm atmosphere. There are public and private hot tubs, in the open air facing the landscape.
Located right next to the cable car that goes up to the view of Mount Fuji.
Hotel that is located near one of the Mt Fuji lakes plus there's free shuttle (however peak periods may mean there are no seats). Love that there's breakfast provided with the room - which helped us save the hassle of going out to eat for breakfast.
It was a large room, traditional japanese style and amazing views. The hotel is right on the lake kawaguchiko, friendly staff and great facilities. We have really enjoyed staying here.
Fantastic to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel with futon, rattan floor and sliding doors. Location is excellent - right beside the lake and near to lots of places to eat
The price is reasonable. Though the location is quite far from kawaguchiko station, the shuttle service is convenient. Breakfast was okay for this level of hotel.
The hotel looks new! Everything is clean. From outside specially inside. It is near the Kawaguchiko station and a rental bike shop just beside the building.
