It is a small town that offers a nice beach and some good restorants. It is perfect for relaxing a few days after the tour of the big cities. The first thing you notice is the absence of noise and then the blue sea fills your eyes and you feel peace hugging you.

We went during the winter season in February and it was good weather and an enjoyable stay! We were able to see the cherry blossoms! We saw komuroyama, the volcano omuroyama, did the jogasaki trail, went to kawazu to see the cherry blossoms, the imaihama beach where I definitely recommend to take a bike to go the beach!
I also recommend taking a day-pass at Ito station where you can take as much as you want the subway. However, for the mountains you have to take the buses so use your pasmo / suica card or cash. And it is also important to have a lot of cash on you because a lot of places take only cash.

I made a round trip along Ito coast.
I made a round trip along Ito coast. The west side is a rural area with its natural beauty and rocky beach well preserved. Not many people and houses, which fit my preference well. The east side boasts some world class white sand beaches, gorgeous rocky cliff view and small islands.

We needed more time!
We needed more time! We loved the coastline and beautiful beaches, the hikes and attractions. You need to be careful with transportation if you don't have a car: make sure you know what buses and trains you are taking in advance. If I could do it again, I would stay longer and rent a car.

City is charming, friendly and efficient people at the restaurants and shops. Safe to walk at night, my kids enjoyed the beach, and of course Jonathon’s restaurant.
Ate lunch at fresh fish restaurant, swam in the ocean in September, and enjoyed the outdoor large spa onsen.
My recommendation is K’s Guesthouse.
Available message at the outdoor spa too!

Ito has is own beauty and comfort.
People travel here for Scuba 🤿, Snorkeling and other water adventures.
Ito is a place to relax and enjoy your stay with a good sea view with beach side stays.
Food is delicious sushi 🍣 🍱 is fresh and restaurants have their special dish everyday. Where you can find plenty of options to try.
Great location, right beside Usami train station. Usami seems to be a quieter area than Ito or Shimoda, so nice for families to rest up before heading on to other adventures around the Izu peninsula. The facilities exceeded our expectations: very clean kitchenette and laundry area. Very useful to have drying and hanging racks for inside and outside. Tatami futons were very comfortable to sleep on. Room had a nice view over Usami and the sea. It is 5-10 minutes walking distance to the beach or the grocery store.
Blown away by the size of the room and the astounding views from the room. I can only compare it to one of the high end suites you find for 5x the price of a regular room. Definitely will be staying here again in the future.
Breakfast was one of the best hotel inclusive breakfasts I've had in Japan.
The staff went above and beyond to provide assistance with anything needed and even dropped me off at the train station after my stay.
The beds were super comfortable too!
Super friendly host/owner who can communicate well in English. His morning walking tour is worth getting up for. Had great recommendations for places to eat and visit. Was able to tailor breakfast for vegetarians, too.
The room was clean and while I have a mold allergy didn't have any issues here (many old hotels/homes in Japan aren't good for me). The aircon was a high-end Fujitsu model that you don't see very often in lodging and it did a great job.
Absolutely incredible! Don't skip the dinner it was the best meal of my life, amazing blend of French and Japanese style with delicious local ingredients.
Staff are very friendly, the onsen in the room and the larger one are amazing. Really one of the nicest stays possible, such a great place to relax and listen to the ocean. Beautiful flowers and decor throughout the hotel.
Very nice rooms, very large, 7 different onsen baths that can be privatized, some indoor some outdoor. The hotel itself is a 10-15 min walk from the train station and another 15 min walk to a very nice trail by the sea.
Staff was very nice and helpful. Meals were great, I have an allergy and they accommodated to my diet very fast, I wasn’t expecting that ! thank you !
The hotel was fantastic with very nice staff. It seems most of the top floors come with great ocean views. Onsen was superb (3rd floor one). Very clean and you can get golf cart to visit some other facilities near by (ask reception). Check definitely the Deep Sea Spa nearby, great water quality (extra cost though, but worth the visit). Hope to visit again!
Nice traditional Japanese hotel, close to the station. the woman at reception spoke English well and was very welcoming. the breakfast was very good ( and copious!). the room was super comfortable and clean and looked exactly like the pictures - the view over sunset was amazing!
The reception is very friendly! The location is also convenient, around 10 mins walk from the train station. The room is cozy with a nice river view. After a tiring sightseeing day, you could also relax in the Onsen!! Will definitely stay here if we go to Ito again!
One of the nicest experiences at a hotel I’ve ever had. The room is superb. The outdoor private balcony, hot spring tub was magnificent. The dinner exceeded all expectations. The location of stunning. I cannot say enough.
Perfect Onsen hotel. Staff met us on arrival and it only got better. Best hotel we have stayed at in several years. Room was outstanding, staff was outstanding. Onsen was outstanding, food was outstanding
Wonderful ryokan kept up-to-date by its fifth generation owners. Very good traditional Japanese meals with modern touches. Great rotenburo accessible by a short funicular or 60 steps.
The room is spacious and clean with nice view. The in-room onsen is great. The hotel lobby decor is modern and cozy. Ito JR station and shopping street are within walking distance.
Stylish traditional Japanese Sytle room.
Private Onsen available on my floor.
Beautiful river view from the room.
Friendly staff fluent in English and Japanese
